From now on, if you use the 'show repeated numbers' option while solving hitori, it will count as a major aid - so your time will be placed in the right-hand ranking column on the page listing all solve times for the puzzle.
This change affects all plays going forward, so puzzles published prior to today will have different rules for late players for the hitori rankings. I thought this was better than having the rules change dependent on the date of the puzzle you play, which would be confusing.
Now if you see the '*' in the left column, it means the player pressed 'check' when they were wrong (but just a single time), for all hitori plays from today onwards.
For other puzzle types, showing repeated digits still counts as a minor aid.
