It is quite hard. At one point, about half-way through, I was guessing, as I didn't see a way forward for many minutes, and only the third guess was good. The wrong guesses then became apparent only after about 15 steps, leading to more delays. However, with the -12 and -16 puzzles, there's always a good chance that I missed something. Since Gareth states that nothing more complex than X-wing should be required, there must have been some structure, obscured by the wraparound shapes. Will have to play again with solving aids on.

For anything faster than 45 minutes, I'd be very interested in the solving technique. Looking forward to the new player with the promised playback capabilities.

I didn't get really stuck, but I wasn't really concentrated either - deleted some pencil marks wrongly at the very beginning and had to backtrack, to make sure I didn't conclude anything wrongly from that. And then I found some pencil marks that I should have deleted at the very beginning. In between I looked forever for an obvious single 5. So I had a lot of things to clean up after.

Key

  • A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
  • Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
  • If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
  • Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
