Howdy!

Why so many non-9x9 Killer puzzles? May 5th was the last one (12 straight 6x6 and 8x8). Also, you haven't had a single Killer-X in 2024 (December 20th was the last one).

Also, any chance we'll get some more collections of Hanjie, Killer, Killer-X, and Jigsaw Killer?

Thanks!

Killer puzzles are not my favorites, but they improve the mix.
My suggestion is to avoid a situation with more than 2 killer type puzzles on the same day. That happened quite often in the past.
Right now I'm about 5 months behind though...

JoergWausW, for historic reasons the site considers killer, killer-x, jigsaw killer and killer sudoku pro to all be different types. There's certainly an argument to consider the first two as the same type and prevent them co-occurring. Same types are forbidden from appearing again on the following day (unless I manually decide to schedule them that way).

rhodri2112, sorry about that! I hadn't realized. I need to upload more of several types to the puzzle queue. Most of these are unusual sizes, but I can see that jigsaw sudoku and killer sudoku have run out of 9x9 sizes.

gareth, thank you for replying. I knew all this, because you mentioned it before. I remember "suffering" when I had to deal with the third 9x9 killer type puzzle on the same day. That seemed to be too much.
The "not on the following day" rule even seemed to prevent this pattern from changing quickly, because it occured about every other day.

My suggestion is to put some puzzles in groups (all killers, all Sudoku kinds, all "b/w icon ones", all Jigsaw, others) and have one of each group per day. The sixth slot could be chosen from any.
This shouldn't interfere with the other rules and makes it more interesting for people who like a specific kind because they appear more regularly.

Thanks for the thoughts, JoergWausW. That's a sensible suggestion but I'm afraid I've had to push plans to re-implement Puzzlemix into 2025 thanks to having a ridiculous number of puzzle books I'm writing this year! :)

I've now fixed the issue with missing puzzle types, so all of the puzzle types will again start to appear in the daily puzzles.

Key

  • A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
  • Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
  • If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
  • Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
